Winter Waves

12.25.2010

Merry Christmas! Hopefully everyone had a great week and great holiday (whichever one that may be). At the Parker household, we got some wonderful gifts and had a good time with our family. One of the best gifts was a gift card to SWELL. Now we can get some more apparel and gear. Check out their website!

Rhode Island will be seeing some fairly large waves on Monday, December 27. Swell Info is predicting up to 14.1 foot waves on Monday, all during a winter storm in New England. You can stay updated with the report by clicking here.

BREAKING NEWS: 12 Foot Waves on Friday!!!

08.29.2010

After browsing Swell Info, it looks like there will be 12 foot waves on Friday, from about 5 AM to 10 AM! These are going to be perfect waves as well, not even a little bit choppy. You can MOST DEFINITLY count on us to be down on the Rhode Island shores taking some awesome pictures. This rarely happens for us in New England, so get out there! You are going to want to document this one, because the people at work will never believe it. Give us your business and we will provide you some awesome pictures from these massive waves!

WARNING: These waves are going to be from a Category 3 hurricane, so take caution. Make sure you have a buddy or a lifeguard...or a Coast Guard team standing by! Keep updated: visit Swell Info to find out how much better or worse it will get. Our schedule for that day will be put on the schedule page. Most likely it will only be land shots, but we may brave the waves to get the best shots.

Surfs Up!

First Day of Shooting!

08.29.2010

We were busy all day today! We started the morning at the Weekapaug Fire District Beach. The waves started small (2-3 ft) but grew to a decent size (around 4-5 feet). There was a decent break, about a 10 second interval and almost no wind. We got some decent shots there until we were kicked out around 10:30 AM. After recharging, we checked out Panic Point, but we weren't able to get out due to the lack of parking. This brought ous down to Matunuck. After parking in the fisherman's lot, we grabbed the boards and headed out. The surf here was slightly higher, with waves up to 6 feet at times. The rocks proved to be a little rough on the feet, but not too terrible. We got less shots here, but still snapped several good ones.

We are still processing the pictures right now, but they will start going up either late tonight or tomorrow morning. You can begin ordering as soon as the first picture hits the website. Keep checking the gallery page as we process and upload the pictures to see if you are there!

Grand Opening of Surfsuphotos!

08.27.2010

Surfsuphotos is a small company in Connecticut that specializes in "surf photography". The small freelancing father-son team travel to area beaches to photograph local surfers and provide these surfers with these pictures for a small charge. We have an online store slated to be open next week where you can purchase prints or digital copies of your photo online.

You can always figure out where we will be next by checking the shedule on the side of this page or by visiting our Schedule Page for dates further in advance. You can visit our services page for a complete list of prices and services.

Where are we this weekend?

08.27.2010

On Sunday, August 29th, we will be in the Misquamicut/Weekapaug area. We will be surfing and photographing. The waves are going to be over head height during parts of the day due to an incoming storm.

The best local surf is at the Weekapaug Town Beach. If you arrive early, you will see the best waves, depending on the tide. Park near the bridge (in the fisherman's parking lot) and mozy on down to the beach. However, all out-of-townies must vacate the beach by 10 AM. We will be down in that area for the early morning, then we will head over to Narragansett for more afternoon surf!
